This happened a couple of years ago.
Nissan decoupled the Skyline moniker from the GT-R badge.
The Skylines are now used on their luxury machines, and if you are
looking for direct matches in other marques, think of the LS430 and
the SC430 in the Lexus range (for the 4 door sedan and the 2 door
coupe), rather than the traditional Supra.
The GT-R moniker was originally kept for the successor to the R34
but so far there has been no news of the unit, despite some
prototype shots of what COULD be the nextgen R35.
