2004Lancer SG Hi folks, me in C&C servicing centre now....just checked with the mechanic about the 'socks' sour sour smell problem from the aircon vents (note the car is just 2 - 3 months old nia)......and was told that they have several complaints from other new lancer drivers too and that the smell was caused as a result of the existence of the heater system..... i have to place my car there for a day so they can remove the heater system completely....... CNN!!!
Black_Ace SG Ya, I noticed the smell too. So, to remove the heater, would it cost anything, this is technically a manufacturer's fault, not only should the overall servicing be free, the removal should also be complimentary. I wait for ya FR on C&C. Black_Ace
2004Lancer SG ya it is free.....their advice is to send to MIt/Ubi so they can send to the aircon shop next to it to do it immediately.... the japanese lancer by default does not have aircon system...only heater....that aircon shop is consigned to do the aircon installation.... the newest lancer no longer comes with a heater system...
extraordinary SG my car also has that smell.. its when after i start the engine den i on the air con den the air con v smelly. but my car is not lancer leh. who shud i ask then to check it out for me.
2004Lancer SG is it a new car? if it is, possible cause is heater.....whenever u turn the knob to grey area (blue-grey-red) meaning mix of aircon and heater, the problem when happened whenever u start your car's aircon....which only last for seconds nia.... afterwhich the smell will be gone.... IT IS NOT THE SAME as the smell u get when your car is about 1 year old when the aircon condensor starts getting dirty
extraordinary SG ya mine is quite new. abt 2 or 3 months now. and er.. its computerised.. no knob to turn. sigh so shud go ask the dealer abt it eh?? ya last for a few secs but really v smelly that few secs. i thot something died in my vent or smth... hmm.. is that possible anyway??
2004Lancer SG should be heater leow la....better get it removed.....we don't use it in Singapore anyway....
CarDreamer SG Wow, no wander... i been taking my friends lancer... in fact two of them.. then notice when they just start engine and turn on the aircon.. warah.. got a bit strange smell.....
