福建人（闽南人）是新加坡华人社群当中最大的民系。但自80年代后，由于近三十年对于方言媒体的诸多限制，导致许多年轻新加坡闽南人已经不能够讲或说一口流利的闽南语
（福建话）。
方言母语已被华语或英语取代。在强势的英语环境及华语普遍化的情况下，新加坡福建话已濒临衰微的命运。若不加以拯救，福建话将从此从新加坡消失而去。
这个社团主要是希望唤醒新加坡年轻闽南人对于方言母语的意识，让更多新加坡闽南人对于自己的根与文化有着浓厚的兴趣。除了鼓励学习闽南语之外，这个社团也会介绍各种闽南文化，让新加坡闽南人了解自己的文化根源。
Hokkien is the largest Chinese dialect group in Singapore. Yet
today, many young Hokkien Singaporeans are unable to speak proper
Hokkien, since the home language has been replaced either with
Mandarin or English.
This group aims to create an awareness and generate the interests
of Hokkien Singaporeans to learn their Hokkien roots and culture.
It also seeks to encourage Hokkien Singaporeans to learn and speak
the proper Hokkien language (Minnan Yu 闽南语/Fujian Hua 福建话） and to
pass on the language till the next generations.
