Bugfest

If you are a fan of the Beetle, the car not the insect, make your
way to Danga Bay for the ever-popular Bugfest.
Volkswagen lovers from Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia congregate
at this festival to appreciate and recognise fellow Beetle owners.
Competition for the signature title, Battle of the Beetle is stiff.
Witness the inspiring and painstaking efforts initiated by car
owners; adding creative themes to decorations and paintwork,
bedecking their cars with VW memorabilia as well as superb
maintenance of the aged cars. Also up for grabs are titles such as
Beetle of the Year? Best Modified VW, Best Maintained VW and
others.
2004 marks the 10th anniversary of the event and this year the
organisers have upped their notch of expectation and are targeting
the participation of 600 cars.
Accompanying friends and family have a whole host of activities to
choose from for entertainment. Among them Tug of War VW style, Teh
Tarik Competition, Karaoke Singing Competition, Arm-Wrestling
Competition, Children Colouring Contest to name a few.
The enthralling activities, the carnival atmosphere and the
camaraderie amongst the Beetle lovers, are destined to leave you
with cherished memories. So mark this date on your calendar and
head on to Johor Bahru.
The production lines may have ceased but the car lives on.
