I really dont think that you guys should get so worked over
about a few statistics about the 0-100 km/h sprint...So what if the
Legacy might edge the Airtrek T in this apsect, or vice versa? They
are both well-balanced performance cars, with the Legacy being
almost a larger, more relaxed deriviant of the WRX in terms of
general performance, while the Airtrek a larger, more practical
detuned Mitsubishi Evolution hosting very accesible performance.
They are both very good cars for the money, considering that they
both offer a fair amount of luxury for the price ; having driven
the regular Airtrek (almost indenticle interior to the A. Turbo)
while examined the new Legacy up close.
About the UK Xtreme times for the Airtrek Turbo-R, out of general
estimation for a four-wheel drive 250bhp 1.5 tonne car, a sub seven
second 0-100 might be possible. From the way I see it the only
thing that is holding the car back in terms of straight line
performance is its weight (some 70kg more than an Evolution 8 ),
Automatic transmition which drains some of the torque output and
large frontal area and resulting drag coefficent, which works
against the car more after 180 km/h which might have explained the
highway story. Of course, there are also ways to remove the regular
180 km/h limiter for Japanese cars
Just be happy with what car you have, and be glad to have one
especially in Singapore where a buying a BMW 318 could buy you a M3
elsewhere.
