but sometimes the ‘pull’ seems very hurting for the gears..got those funny sound of draggin?wat shd be the speed to drop gears?

well NA car, no problem. for an Auto NA car, well, engine brake is less pronunced. Think if u want u could manually downshift bah, but really no need for it.

well engine brake is effective only if your car is manual. in an Auto, u notice, even with the foot off the pedal, the car moves, because there is petrol being fed to the engine. Engine brake is only effective when no petrol is being fed to the engine, and the friction between the pistons and the cylinderblock walls slow the engine rpms down.

i am not so sure about 4 stroke cars... but for 2 stroke motor where u need lubrication from the petrol (2t) when no petrol fed to the engine also = no 2 t = no lubrication therefore will be detrimental for engine due to increase wear and tear

for car i not very sure but i think will be quite a similar concept ... why make the engine rev high for saving brake pad? think brake pad cheaper then if ur engine break down....

auto car ah.. it will auto supply a little petrol into the engine even when u not acceleratin therefire the engine brake not so much use unless u realli shift down manually loh...

and again frequent shiftin will wear and tear the auto tranmission.. therefore not recmomened

hm i believe that engine brake should only be used to regulate shift, even so you should use it together with your footbrake so as not to over rev the engine. i believe that footbrakes should be used to stop. i totally agree with dinobros that brakepads are cheaper to change. i’d rather burn my brakes than burn my clutch. lol.
