cosmic_rides SG Honda Civics' are very nice to drive if you push the engines a little. I really miss that car and i advise you to enjoy the car while you can and do not worry too much about FC. Travelling in Singapore, small country, how much more fuel can you burn???
Bloop... SG ??? Read a little more - "If you try to push it". Normal driving at low speeds is fine. If you try to go faster and change at 2500 RPMs what's going to happen?
Bloop... SG I'm driving my 3rd Vtec now. I had an EH9 Esi, then an EG9 Vti and now an EG2 Del Sol with a B16B engine. I currently change gears at about 3800 rpms and I get 13.5km/l. Just trying my best to help from what little experience I have. Simply areas you could look into, that's all. S'alright. Good luck with your fuel consumption. Honda makes good cars, hope you find out what's wrong with yours.
saab95 SG Think Bloop is correct. My friend drives a SIR and he did mentioned that the sweet spot was at about 3500 rpms, too low and the engines gets a little boged down....bad for fuel economy.
Handgunner SG Are u sure, I think 3500rpm is a bit too high, Last time, I always ram my car till 3000++ to shift gear and my tank reach the E point within 300Km… Now I always change gear at around 2500 to 3000 and I mange to get 360Km… I really not very sure how to cal how many Km/L but I test it out quite a few times liao….Mine is a 98’SIR…..Got wife and kid now so seldom ram now…
saab95 SG Well, actually I never owned a Honda before but that came from my buddy. U could be right, but actually 3500 not too high for a VTEC screamer leh..............
D16Z6 SG So now is 2 against 1 on 3,500 gearshift is better than 2,500.I should give it a try.Actually juz now on my way hm i did try already after pumping petrol.Hope it does help.Is 3,500 gearshift for every gear or only for lower gearshift or vice-versa?
D16Z6 SG So u r into Vtec engines So was ur gearshift @ 3,500 when u drove EH9? Whats the feeling between EH9 and EG9 that u drove b 4???
D16Z6 SG Anybody had tried before driving a 16 inch rims and 15 inch rims and compare the mileage? Is difference alot or only a bit?
saab95 SG Think it will be for 1st through 4th. 5th gear normally used for cruising so not so crucial, from 4th to 5th normally not that much acceleration but for better FC and a little more top end? Could be wrong as I have never owned a Honda before.
saab95 SG My buddy was using 15-inch rims.....said it gave him better acceleration. If you get good lightweight 16 inch rims (I like Enkei) the rotational mass would not be that much different from the 15 inch stock rims....but problem is good light 16 inchrims cost alot of $$$. Of course if u can get a good second hand set, all the better The $$$ saved can go towards performance rubbers for your car.
AE86tofu SG Mine is worse.....8.75KM/L.....thats very bad....maybe cos the engine is underpowered...tts y need 2 rev more 2 get the power out
[email protected] SG his is the X-Trail 2.5l. I've driven his car. I doesn't feel underpowered, and the response when u step hard on the accel is like any auto car's. The problem, i think is not about revving too high. The engine settings have been changed many times by his father before, so much so that to pinpoint the exact problem is difficult at best.
AE86tofu SG Improve it? Simple......Install back mt Old amps for my prev merc and add in a Sub+tweeters.... I'll leave the engine untouched....thats for my dad 2 play with.....
LLukeShen SG If use tiptronic to shift down the gear (auto car), before step in acceleration, will it be more fuel economical? Comparing with step acceleration hard and force gear box to shiftdown, I think active gear shift will help to save that part of the petrol before the gear start to shift. Am I right?
