Hi, by right according to the latest ruling on OPC u can do that. Pay $100 to convert. U save $800 on your annual road tax.

Thanks for your reply. But if I found a car which is 10yrs old, and I want to renew the COE, will I still get the 17K rebate?? (which I dun think so, ha ha)

Any recommendation for renew COE car? Cos I now really cant afford the downpayment for new cars, even though zero down, with the 10yrs loan breathin down d neck it will be quite hard to breathe. Mr. Green

Question why get renew COE car and pay more road tax every year. 110% on the 11th year and + 10% every that after till the 15th year and carry on 150% till end of 20th year.

Why not try to get the 8 or 9 years old car and change car every year or 2. Do the math well you will know it save some $$$ by doing this way. You will not face much mechanic problem as most old cars will on the 13th year on or so.

it still within 10 year therefor normal road tax and a higher scrap value. say one year you letting go 5k on car, you should be driving a better than 'OK' car type.

I agreed with Joshua’s recommendation. My 1st car’s a 9yr old Nissan, 2nd car’s a 8yr old ESi. I clocked up my NCD and experience driving these 2 old cars and it proved that such method can be very beneficial for new drivers who wants to own a car without burning 2 big a hole in the pocket… Problematic the cars may be but it’s a good learning experience on how to better maintain your car when the next better one comes along. For a new driver, unless u r loaded, else it’s not really advisable to buy a new car co of the high insurance premium and high depreciation nature of the car.

Good move there. Cool it maybe old car but still you change car every year or so Wink
in this way you dun lost so much as to those who buy new car and after 2 or 3 years and want to change.

To prevent from getting a problematic car, either you know some mechanic or a good 2nd hand dealer, best is you know a thing or 2 during the test drive like the listen to the gear during move, change, up and down slop, and of couse the engine. one other thing to look out for is the suspension.

For those loaded you can, to me it a waste of $$$.

If u want to get a 2nd hand 7/8/9 yr old car and if u have no one to accompany u to view and evaluate the car let me know. I will gladly assist you on that. To me, every trip to the used car centers at ubi and kallang is a new learning experience cos every used car is different in one way or another when u test drive them...
