‘TOWN COUNCIL SHOULD BE FOR RESIDENTS’
INTEREST’
MP Sylvia Lim raised the hot-button issue of the software sale
to Action Information Management (AIM). “Being custodians of
residents’ money, Town Councils should use it for residents’
interest,” she said. “AIM is not an ordinary company but a company
fully-owned by the PAP. Software systems
developed at significant cost with public funds, but were
transferred to PAP.”
As to why they did not raise the issue earlier, she said, “After
the GE we were obsessed with taking over the Aljunied Town Council
on a tight timeline with minimum problems.”
“The AIM saga illustrates value of
political competition in safeguarding public interest,” she said.
“Voting Opposition provides more channels for transparency,
accountability.”
