believed to have taken over the wheel after an earlier argument
with the original taxi driver.
Witnesses said the suspect tried to flee the scene after the
crash but was stopped by the public, reported CNA. The force of the crash smashed the glass entrance
along the Budget Terminal driveway next to a McDonald’s
restaurant.
ComfortDelGro, which operates CityCab taxis, said its driver
picked up the passenger early on Saturday morning.
According to its spokesman, halfway through the journey towards
the airport, the passenger - reportedly a 30-year-old China
national - allegedly started getting violent.
The taxi driver then stopped the cab, activated the distress
button and got out of the vehicle. The spokesman added that the
passenger also stepped out and allegedly started to attack the
driver before getting into the taxi and driving off.
