Hyundai cars have high fuel consumption?

I heard from my uncle who is working at Cycle & Carriage that Hyundai cars have a high fuel consumption. He obtained this information from the many customers that come for servicing as well as the mechanics there.

Are there any Hyundai car owners here who might want to verify this claim?

All my fds who drives Hyundai told me that same....on Elentra, Accent & Trajet...drink petrol like drink water...my fd say petrol see beh siong!!n So far the new Matrix & Getz I dunno yet..

I drive a Hyundai Accent 1.3 Manual and got 12.5 km per litre.

But a Hyundai car cost about $8k to 10k less than an equivalent Jap model. So over 10 years, the extra petrol cost may even out the car price difference.

don’t bluff la…..my colleagues driving Hyundai, Mazda 323 and Protege all experiencing 7-9km/litre situation….

Depends on how and where you drive. If you drive mostly in city and a heavy-footer, then fuel-consumption is higher.
I used to own a Hyundai Accent 1.5M Manual and getting abt 11 to 12km/l.

sure can testify those hyundai car owners.... consumption for accent at 12.5l/km++ is attainable....

go to clubhyundai to check out the fuel consumptions... there are a few thread on this issue.....

change your view on Korean Car!!! big improvement compared to 8~10yrs back..... gap is closing....

OOOPS! So sorry! My mistake. I have checked with my uncle whether it is Hyundai or Kia. He told me that it was actually Kia that he was referring to.

Well, I guess it was a blessing in disguise as we now know that Hyundai do consume a lot of fuel too just as its counterpart, Kia.

What about Kia owners out there? Is this true?

Yeah I think that makes sense. Anyway the most common assumptions are Korean made cars tends to have higher petrol consumption but they car generally the cheaper cars around lor. So the same for KIA also lar. Neutral

I think Kia & Hyundai cars are more thirsty because of their technology leh. Many brands of cars can achive lower FC because of VVTi , IDSi ...Etc

And i think Korean cars have yet to use such fuel system..so Korean cars have higher FC.

I do know a friend selling away her Matrix because of High FC plus under power Sad

personally, i seldom go over 3000rpm, unless its the 5th gear on the expressway.

Not all Hyundai cars have have fuel consumption... most of them are comparable to their Jap counterparts (Of cos engines like
i-dsi and vvt-i are a different breed)... it's juz the Matrix which is fuel-thirsty cos its damn heavy and the engine is not powerful enough
