Actually I think both the Cerato Forte and Avante are pwned by
another Korean. But it's a mixed blood Korean. Introducing
*drumroll pls* the Hyundai i30!
I think it's extremely underrated here in Singapore mainly
because of a few reasons. Firstly, it's price. It's more expensive
than the Cerato Forte or even their own Avante when it's only a
hatchback. Blame manufacturing in Slovakia for that.
And this leads me to my second reason, it's a hatchback. You
know Singaporeans and Asians. We just love cars with butts (eg Ford
Focus sedan, VW Jetta). Maybe because with the extra butt, they
feel that the moolah they shelled out for is more worth it.

But if you think of the i30 in another way, it's extremely bang
for your bucks. It's around the same size as your Opel Astra, Ford
Focus, VW Golf, blah blah blah. All your premium hatchbacks. And
the i30 has a very similar looking spec sheet compared to its
competitors too. Multlink independent rear suspension, wow. And
reviewers also thought that although not as entertaining to drive
as compared to a Focus, it's good enough. Quality inside is on par
with its European competitors too.
Heck, if I am ever considering a premium hatchback, I won't only
be looking at Focus or Golf. I'll make a trip down to Komoco Motors
too.
Yea... those new Korean models are really an eye-opener
these days.
My house carpark got one i30. I keep looking at it whenever I
pass by. Quite spacious for a hatch. One thing I like about the new
cars of Hyundai is that the instrumental cluster is very
ergonomical and classy.
Looking forward to the i10 coming by the end of this year.
