Just before the nomination date, a PAP candidate withdrew due to extra marital affair.

Hougang is a single ward constituency and Punggol East constituency is also a single ward constituency BUT one is by WP while the other is by PAP.

Hougang is a single ward constituency and Punggol East constituency is part of Pasir Ris -Punggol GRC leh.

Punggol East is an SMC. It's not part of Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.

Also, being a philanderer is not a 'grave mistake', it's not a mistake. What? Did he slip and fall, causing his dick to penetrate a vagina? It's a sin against the institution of marriage.

Why are all government organizations having someone who is adulterous anyway?

Punggol East is an SMC. It's not part of Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.

Oops, very sorry, indeed I have made a mistake. Punggol East is a SMC.

Seowlah SG

If there is an overwhelming call for by election, will WP succeed to conquer Punngol East SMC ?

The Workers' Party has noted the announcement today that the Speaker of Parliament, Mr Michael Palmer, has resigned from the People's Action Party.

By virtue of Article 46 of the Constitution, Mr Palmer's Parliamentary seat for Punggol East Single Member Constituency (SMC) has become vacant.

In order that the residents of Punggol East SMC are properly represented, the Workers' Party urges the Prime Minister to call a by-election in the constituency as soon as possible.

In the last General Election, the Workers' Party contested Punggol East SMC. The Workers' Party is ready to offer a choice to the voters of Punggol East SMC again in the by-election.

i guess PAP might try to stop a by-election from happening

Seowlah SG

The PAP needs to come clean with the people what information have they got about Mr Palmer and in particular, what did they know about him prior to the May 2011 election. And if they know, why did they field Mr Palmer. I think it is sad that the voters have been misled by the PAP.

On the www.singapore-elections.com website,

There re 12 single ward constituencies. Hougang SMC is won by WP. Punggol East SMC is now vacant. So, there are 10 more SMCs that could have by election if the existing MPs made any serious mistakes
