i think most of us are making our own lives difficult..
as in we are noot very satisfied ppl, always trying to earn more
money, no amt is enough for us, put in other better terms always
trying to improve ourselves...
end up, we try to earn that extra dollar.. but some spend it faster
on luxury and "life-style" pattern activities... as we
psychologically, think that we deserve that as we had work hard for
it.. thus, many ppl engage themselves in "life-style"activitiees to
pamper themselves... end up "mo qin"
ok this upper part seems like repeating what u have
mentioned.
ya i think u are right in the sense that barteners n musician are
not income reaping job, thus not very popuplar in sg. but y are
noT?
i think it has got to do with the perceived value of "professional"
jobs n the task that we perform in the job. Generally, i would
think that singaporean's mentality of service provider are like a
class lower than the professionals like doctors and lawyers. this
is esp true for those retail service provider.
the fact that the "route" they become doctors and lawyers provided
them a "reasonable" reason for doing so.. eg: they might think that
docs hv to go thru many years of training/studying, also the cost
of thier professional is very high, compare to service providers,
they think that anyone who be able to replace or do their job.. so
its like not very valued in that sense. they fail to recognise that
they might have their own expertise too, or rather their expertise
could be picked up in just a few years and are also easily replaced
by technological changes.
above all, it could also be historically, docs and lawyers etc have
been well respected since older times, thus the mentality still
stays til now.....
