I simply highlight what other forums posted that has not been
mention here.
But i think it is good that its open up......so
that Government, foreigners, alike do not take
Singaporean for granted that what is enjoyed today was
predicated upon previous
success by countless citizens from all walks of life
to participate in the national service and made contribution
for the last 40 yrs.
Or.....Same could also be said that he opened a can of
worms he is not prepared to address it. Maybe he should have just
stick to ND policies speech rather than fudge it with Rally
bit.
Lastly, one would think that by now he would
understand if he is going to have a national policy
reaction to the Fairness is more important than quantity.
I think the positive things out of this ND speech is that the
government acknowledges the problem, and citizens are encouraged to
respond to the explanation, the policies....it is said today that
the Malays are concerned about the migrant policy, and they
asked if there will be anymore Malay in Singapore in 100 years
time, malays are also facing lower birth rate, and there is no
overseas malay who want to migrate to singapore....hmmm....
He addressed the issues, but did not give sufficient solution. I
don't see it as a can of worms, such problem is already on the
ground, crowling all over.
We should discuss who should be entitled to the $9000, or part
of it. what about the people who had already completed the
cycle, those who migrated...should we pay the worried
wives when their husband go reservists, had night training in JB?
how about the parents, whose sons left home for the first time in
their life, when they go tekong?
