Generally, malaysia is still quite safe... u may see many
different trips up to different parts of malaysia by various forums
and car made.... like Honda and Borneo Motor is organising convoy
up north....
JB is quite notorious... but further north is quite ok....
Look for several thread here.... some pointers:
(a) book better hotels... like 4-star and up.... so that you can
park your car more safely... in relative sense....
(b) when u park your car outside... avoid isolate corners.... pay
to park in carparks in shopping mall or commerial buildings...
safer...
(c) avoid travelling at night if u are not so familiar with the
road, coz the signages and road lightings might make u extra
difficult to find your directions....
(d) try to follow all traffic rules... coz u being singaporean...
hee hee u will be picked up by the police rather than local, even
though u are committing the same offence.....beware
(e) now... better don't offer bribe.... coz the govt is crampling
down hard on their policeman.... so u never know what type of
police u are facing.... also u pay on the spot... u may end up
getting the ticket in the end..... and u will later be hold up at
the checkpoint.
