"Yes, we will see the fruit of our immigration policy in
about 3 generations down the road, that is about 30 to 40 years
time and most of you may not be around to taste it, I
will definitely not be around to taste it, but in the meantime, if
we do nothing, there will be a third generation and all of us will
taste nothing. Do you want that to happen to Singapore? I will
think nobody want Singapore to go down just because of low
birthrate problem at the present, we must have the responsibility
to answer to our next generation just as the past generation who
make this place a prosperous and peace and harmony for us. And if
we dun do anything for our future generation, I think we are just
evading our responsible. So, i urge all the really look into the
long term perspectives of this nation. Yes, you will find it hard
to accomodate different culture, different ways of living,
different aspect and a more multi racial society forming, but for
our future, we expect all this immigrant or new citizens
decendents, to be our true blood singaporeans, so in the meantime,
just bear with it."
