Interesting constrast......while i am not advocating execution
but would like to see some accountabilities.
“The good thing about Singapore is that if you flop, you
are given a second chance.”
So long the venture is spear-headed by the PAP, it can afford to
flop many times and still given a chance.
North Korean finance chief executed for botched currency
reform
Pak Nam-gi killed by firing squad after currency reform
worsened markets, but many see him as a scapegoat
Some time back in the 1980s - when it was still PM LKY, he said
aloud his admiration for the Japanese sense of honor
and personal integrity - in which the Chairman of the
Corporation will take personal responsibility for any serious
mishap that affects the good name of the Corporation - and
resign.
Such was the high value that was treasured, which PM LKY
explained was a carry-over from the Bushido spirit - which
demand personal sacrifice in the face of major failure as reflected
in the Japanese practise
of 'Hara-kiri' or disembowelling in WW2.
Ironically, it was just a fleeting moment of fancy - which in
his typical ways were intended for Singaporeans to adopt but not
for himself nor his own PAP to practise.
For all the failures that he has been admitting since stepping
down as PM - LKY will have to have a tough stomach to withstand the
number of 'Hara-kiri' wounds that he will need to inflict on
himself.
In the style of MM LKY, it has always been - "do as I say,
and not do what I do".
