just got my license and wondering is it a good buy to have COE car such as 93 nissan presea for $300/mthly for seven years>??

Not a good idea. You might have problem selling it off later as nobody wants a more than 10 yrs old car.

Try getting a less than 10 yrs old car and at least you still have your parf back when scrapped.

Also, parts might be a problem a few yrs down the road.

I have been scouting around and comptemplating whether a COE car will be better interms of cost. its alos my 1st car so an old COE car will be better to sustain and learn about the cost of maintainance etc. Best of all, touchwood, kena minor dent or hit are still not as heartache as a new car...

well, that is my personal opinion... Very Happy

I have been aiming for a presea too but heard from the forum that the FC is quite high. but still, I saw quite a few of COEd preseas on the road also...so am stuck between choices... Rolling Eyes

Toking of Nissan Presea.... The other time I was driving my fren's Presea back to workshop..... This idiot Evo actually wanted to race with me..... of course I let him win.... Very Happy okie.. overall, great car, nicely shape but lack good handling at high speed..... oh the FC is quite high also..... maybe becos the car is sort of aging.....

sorry to bring up this topic again...
I just went to Beach Road plaza hotel carpark which they always advertised on the papers like "10 units of Nissan Presea" "10units of Honda civics" etc etc...i dun quite believe this ads until I went to take a look last nite...

convincingly enuff, the preseas, sunnys and civics are mjority of quite good quality...up to the leather seats and paintworks...the thing is i do not really have knowledge on the engine....but test drove a few units...they are quite satidfying Laughing

$0 driveaway and monthly $300+...not bad for a budget car.

What do you guys think?

I did consider the option of buying such cars too but I think if i have the money, I would rather put in a few hundreds more (e.g 500+) per month to buy a new car than buying the ones you mentioned. But again, this is all up to you as you know your needs best.

haha....the main reason i considered these cars is exactly I have lack of that few hundreds more every month Laughing
I would love to consider budget rides like Kelissa and Picanto...well, not in a hurry to get a car...so still doing my plannings...

but i am really tempted by the COE cars...cus in the event of the engine has no problem...u actually save alot driving these cars....

sigh..the ever increasing petrol prices are a worrying factor too Sad

Well, it's very true that the lack of few hundred dollars is a factor in deciding the COE cars or new cars. I also have the same situation few months ago and finally I settled for a 92 swift. Though, it's old, at least it can get me from point to point conveniently. So a lot of factors depend on your needs and budget. Of course, the engine must tahan....so have to invest in some $$$$ regularly for servicing and maintenance. Just my thoughts. Smile

I was wondering roughly how much is required to spend on servicing....on average every month? or u quote me a few example for your swift...

sorry to provide a wrong info...i went to doublecheck at Beach Road Plaza Hotel. The monthly os around $420+ at least for a normal cond presea. $300+ is for sunnies and starlets or older cond swifts.

why not we find one time go down together to the beach road...then we can view and chat? I am not in a hurry to buy but I would love to go "window shopping" again Very Happy
