What makes you think that more reserves equate to stronger
Singapore dollar?
Singapore adopts a dirty float (managed float), ie MAS keeps the
Singapore dollar in an undervalued narrow trading band.
.....the Executive Board of the International Monetary
Fund (IMF) also observed that the Singapore dollar in real
effective terms appears to be somewhat weaker than its medium-term
equilibrium level.

We have lots of reserves now, but it doesn't precludes us from
paying more for our HDB and daily sustenance.
Nothing is free in this world, you want premium living, you got to
pay for it, with regard to all premium city in this world,
singapore is consider a low cost premium city, that is why the rich
like to come, buy properties and stay on, another reason is that we
are so peaceful here, i, as a gal, can't even go out at night in
taiwan, malaysia, or even thailand, but in singapore, 24hrs no
problem can party all nite.
I think you dun like to see your CPF or saving or asset goes
down by half of what it is now, you got to be realistic about it.
Tho we may had dig into the reserve during the downturn, but we are
debt free, that is the most important, you won't want a govt in
debt ya.
