Trains and bus are public services and should not be measured by
profit alone.
I travel in UK last week and most of my trips are riding on the
trains. Most of the time I got a seat and the trains are on time
and efficient.
I travel back to Beijing, those trains although are crowded but
pretty cheap and effiicient too (0.4SGD) single trip.
I returned to Singapore and shit place for public transport.
Weather is hot, long wait for trains in-btws, transfers are
confusing, service at the train station is worse than 3rd world and
unhelpful.
I hopped on a trip to KL, alas, their trains are new and
services better than Singapore.
I walk the talk all the time in my company, if I am the CEO or
CFO of SMRT, I will give up my car and travel on train until
my customers are fully satisfy with my service.
