Ever heard of path dependence?
2 things that contributed to path dependence.
1) Early dominance of the ruling group.
2) Early decisions concerning the design of singapore will
influence future decisions regarding singapore.
Considering PAP had ruled us for too long, it has become the
defacto standard. establishment of PAP as a dominant group, also
allows it to be followed by other PAP sponsored organizations
during the period when they were competing against other
groups.
All organizations combined are too entrenched into the
self-reinforcing system, through communications and policies.
Even when people are willing to take responsibility,
the non-human participants (such as institutions like ISD), or
even actors (i.e. china) outside singapore may still
constrain necessary actions.
My take is very pessimistic.
has it ever been in your mind wat to do if say the party tat rules
for decades suddenly falls? Has it been in your mind how to think
of ways to pick up e pieces esp many of the companies here are
controlled by them?
We dun need to care abt external factors, simply because at e
end of the day, citizens matters before anything else
