Globalization together with our low birth rate and our laxed
immigration policy, herald a unique situation where highly educated
professionals, like doctor, vet, scientist, researcher, IT
engineer, technical engineer etc, flock into
Singapore, from third world countries, working instead as
lab technician, technical assistant etc, enjoying a standard of
living and earning far exceed what they could imagine back home,
competing directly with poly graduate and first degree holder for
the same job.
Seriously! When I was working as an IT professional, a job that
paid me $1700 SGD here would have paid me $4000 AUD in Aussie.
Who wouldn't wanna emigrate?
This is the nature of globalization. Because we actually KNOW
there are greener pastures elsewhere, we would actually seek them.
All people will seek to benefit themselves, who can blame
them?
