If only they had allowed the late Dr Lee Siew Choh's
memoirs to be published - after he hurried to complete the details
of his draft before his debillating illness overtook his remaining
time.
When they had to send an emissary to dissuade the family from
publishing the memoirs, can anything else be believeable from
authorised and sanctioned publications of what the interpreted
history is ?
The other memoir that was stopped from publishing was that from
the late Devan Nair, whose family was similarly dissuaded under
threat of being tangled in lawsuits for any
libellous contents published.
Now, the official mouth piece of Singapore had come
in to push up dismal sales numbers, by publishing a
front page photo of a chummy group photo of LKY and those
whom he had incarcerated - as if all animosity are erased with one
event.
Its a farcical comedy of vanquished actors in their twilight
years attempting to slip in their last editted paragraphs
for posterity sake.
For the victor, it is a PR stunt to rebuild damaged karma
but unfortunately could not disguise the opportunity to gloat
over those who were ruthlessly incarcerated to secure his own place
in a history of his own making.
