Any '86-91 Toyota MR2 AW11 left in SG ?

Hi,

This is a pic of my beloved darling '89 1.6 16v Twin Cam 4AGE TVIS NA RWD Toyota MR2 (AW11) which i drove in UK. It has a redline at 9000rpm and is fashioned from the same engine block (or is it pistons??) as a Cosworth engine. THe TVIS (Toyota Variable Inlet System) was similar to a modern day VTEC engine....talk about being way ahead of its time !

Anyway, i really really love this RWD flyweight rocket.....125bhp vis a vis a sub 1000kg frame = mean acceleration 0-60mph 7.1 sec.

I saw 1 red AW11 at AMK a few months ago....and I used to know of a yellow highly modified AW11 owned by my NS friend called Foo Kok Fei.

Anybody knows if there are any surviving MR2 AW11 left in Singapore ? Even better, any for sale ?

Just in case u've not seen an AW11 MR2 before, here are some pics of my baby

Cheers

Hi Jiayong
you mean u had that engine in your treuno???

Oh yah..the 4 AG-E is the engine for the Trueno. It wasnt an engine swap. It comes with the car. You said your mom is driving one MR2?

I totally agree...so u have the "butterfly" TVIS valve as well?

I'm thinking of getting an AW11 and change the engine to a 4AGZE supercharged...wondering if LTA would allow such a transplant ?

I would justify it on the grounds that my engine is too old and there isnt any other replacement for it.....hehehe anyone can advise on how to go about requesting for an engine swap approval from LTA ?

Nop, my mum's friend is driving one, I saw it when he came to my place.

I did not know that the MR2 and Treuno is having the same engine, so which car had better spec??? Sprint, FC...

I always see 1 red MR2 4WD turbo, 1 model new than the on 26red had, at defu lane 10....

u can try...but i think u have 0% chance of winning...haha

try waste time lor….. even if u can prove that the engine is suitable for the car they will not approve….. one engine is not cheap dude…. $15000 to $20000….

heh...of course i got UK lobang for a 4AGZE conversion, I'm a member of the UK MR2 Owner's club.

A supercharger conversion can be done for less than S$10k including freight. Confirmed already...now just looking around for a suitable donor.

The link below gives u an indication of the prices :

Have seen 3 AW11 so far.....the asking price is way too high, the premium over paper value (COE) is about $20k!!!

And they have tacky bodykit stuck onto them with cheap respray making it look absolutely ah beng !
