HUD (heads up display) for cars?

The other day i sa a very interesting feature on an Ah Beng's Honda.

Apart from the standard gauges blocking 50% of his vision, he had this device mounted on the dash just above the steering wheel. The device is projecting info oto the windscreen.

This particular device projects digital readings of the speedo and tachometer onto the windscreen! just like fighter pilots see whn they fly.

Therefore the driver can actually look at the speed and rpm while just looking straigh ahead at the road. Never seen this before.

Anyone knows where to buy it and the cost?

My friend installed this thingy (sorry, can't remember what its exactly called), along with 3 Delphi Meters....... cost a total of S$1700.

Did it at one of the shop at Sin Ming Autocare. Anyway, many other places like ST powered and McWell also have them.

Not really recommanded as it is obstructing the general view of the driver…. actually some cars in the past use to have but this idea was do away because of the reason…. i forgotten which make it is…..

Agree with Prae, it can be very distracting. One of the guys have it as it helps him keep his eye on the track as well as his read-outs when he is tracking the car. Spend your money somewhere else if I were you, unless you track your car too… heheh… $0.02 worth.

The gadget is made by Defi and its called the VSD.

Its not distracting ta all and I had it installed on my last ride. Not expensive. cost abt S$250.

The projected readings is at my eye level and allow me to keep my eyes on the road w/o having to look at my tach and speedo.
