if opposition is just to ask PAP to wake up, I think that is a very lame job, nobody will vote an opposition to become a MP with a paid of $10k just to wake up PAP Ministers in the parliament. You saw in TV during Parliament session, half of the MPs were sleeping, I think it is better for you to go and sell red bulls and strong coffees near the parliament, most MPs need it to stay up for the boring parliamentary session, business will be good.

Why a place called Taiwan which has a corrupt, multi-party political system could have a strong economy (several times the size of Singapore's) and a formidable electronics sector ??

This question makes me a bit confused. Anyone smarter could offer an answer?

1. Taiwan is many times bigger, got domestic market.

2. Taiwan started with educated people from all over China. They started economic building when Jiang Jin Guo tookover. Later, LKY had to learn from him.

3. Taiwan look towards USA, rising economy after WW2. Singapore looked towards the UK, setting economy after WW2.

4. Taiwanese businessmen moved to China when domestic market saturated. Singaporeans waited for the government to take the lead.

5. Taiwanese started with many SME, home is upstair of factory. Singaporeans began business by paying rent, to JTC.

6. Taiwanese speaks good mandarin, a little Japanese, poor english. Singaporean speaks good singlish, poor mandarin.

7. Taiwanese government linked to the black society and pay them money. Singapore government linked to business and take away the business, and money.

8. Taiwanese politicians take money for themselves and their families, Singapore politicians take money for the country, including themselves.

Taiwan is Taiwan, Singapore is Singapore.

Is Korea corrupt, is Japan corrupt, is USA corrupt?

Because Taiwan is several times the size of Singapore?

Taiwan is about 50 times (to be exact 52 times) bigger than Singapore - learnt this from the tour guide when we went to the country some months back.

1) I didn't say anything that links you with opposition.

2) Do you vote in ppl just to oppose and monitor? Or do you want them in because they have solutions to the problems?

3) So far I only see the problems that she brings up which is already known by all Singaporean. I'm actually more interested in solution. If you only brings out the problems without the solution, why bring it out in the first place :S

The Opposition do not and cannot make policies and execute policies. That is the government's job. What opposition can do is to ensure that the PAP wakes up from its cronyism and nepotism.

Therefore, I will always vote opposition because when people have too much power, they will become corrupt, legally corrupt or otherwise. The only way to check the "legal corruption", the cronyism and the nepotism is to vote in the opposition.

The more the cursed despot persecutes the opposition and the activists, the more the people must vote them in and kick the despot and his cronies out.

The people must not stand for dishonorable characters in power or the dishonorable cahracters will destroy the country in the long run and I have warned about this in sgforums from a long time ago.... if you havn't, click on: 07 Jun `08, 3:55AM

So how much opposition do you reckon is enough to do it? If everyone vote for the opposition, wouldn't the opposition now make up the government? And if they do really happen to make up the government, and they don't have any idea of how to deal with problems, how are we going to survive?

Your arguement is based on idealogy.

Isn't PAP a opposition in the past? How did they rise to power? To me, oppositions job is not just to check on the ruling party but to come out with alternate solution that better the current party or to oppose any bad regulations that the ruling party is going to pass.

So far, I've yet to see any of that from the oppositions.

How do other countries do it without the PAP? You really thing that they are gods and Singapore cannot survive without the despots?

It is delusions like these that will destroy the country in the long run, from the cronyism, nepotism that results naturally when despots rule for so long.

You want the opposition to tell you what their plans are, you have to go to their websites. I am not from the opposition as I have stated.

Even if PAP becomes the opposition, they still have a voice!!!

Voting in the opposition does not mean the end of PAP.

If the opposition becomes that government, I will probably vote PAP.
