There is nothing like a scandal involving porn films claimed on Commons expenses to focus attention on the pay and perks enjoyed, sorry earned, by our public servants.

Even before Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary, was forced to apologise for her husband's blue movies there had been calls for the whole system to be overturned. The committee on standards in public life which has promised to report on MP pay and expenses by the end of the year is under pressure to do something radical.

Whenever MPs come under attack over pay they are quick to argue that compared to executives in the private and public sector they are not particularly well paid.

With the G20 leaders in the country we thought it was worth getting a snapshot of how much the highest paid presidents and prime ministers around the world earn. For comparison's sake all earnings have been converted into dollars. It also shows basic annual salary only, not the expenses claimed on top.

So, where does our own Gordon Brown stand?

2. Donald Tsang Yum-Kuen - Hong Kong

Unfortunately, is there anyone left to keep the avarice and greed of his government in check ?

The salary paid to the President and the Ministers amount to robbing the bank stuffed with the hard earned money taxed from the toil and sweat of Singaporeans.

As matters stand, the Singapore Government treasury is bloated to the extreme that allow GIC and Temasek to be managing funds that are figured by some to be approximately US$800 Billion, while Singaporeans have to pinch every penny to keep our heads above water.

Recently,the world calls for low pay or no pay to CEO,ect excutives if

their companies losing money!!

Ok.If we apply to nations as companies and The Head of Excuitives as CEO,

ie Presidents of USA,PM of UK and SG etc,then how much do u think the

past Exceutives Head of the G20 worth?

The current crisis have been breed for long lond time say 20 years.

Singapore's government debt comes in at close to 100% as a percentage of GDP, much higher than most of the countries provided by lionnoisy.

S$255 million / S$257 million = 99%
