CURRENT9 SG Hi there all the GURUs out there ..... question for you all. Since the Honda Euro 2.0 is using a detuned K20A engine from the same Euro R, does it mean this very same engine has got a potential to be retuned to get out an amazing 220ps? I am aware of the after market chip out there to supposingly help to release all the potential derated engine power. Also I know that no matter wat you do to a non R Accord it will never be the same as the Euro R but just that from the technical point of view I supposed it is worth sparing a thought for it . Cheers !!
tailslide SG hehe, nice try. but fact is, u gotta change quite a number of things to get the 160 hp engine 2 perform up to 220 hp. 1) Change the head to a euro r head that has i-vtec on both the inlet and exhaust cams. while you are at it, u also need to get a type-R intake manifold. 2) Change the exhaust system to support the new head. 3) Change the pistons to those of an euro r with higher compression. 4) Change the ecu to manage the new i-vtec and exhaust plus the higher compression (normal ecu will make ur engine go crazy). 5) Change the gearbox to manual 6 speed. an auto gear box will never get you the 220 hps down to the ground. lots of things to change. by the time you spend all the time and money, other ppl driving a real euro r probably luffing liao.
CURRENT9 SG Thanks pal . Now I got the answer and yeah I must admit things are are neva that simple. Any idea how much is the Euro 2.4 l cost compare to the 2.0 ? Since this is a 200ps engine should be quite sufficient for non racing track fun drive purposes.
Praetorian111 SG you mean u race on the road??? Actually to be economical a 1.6 litre engine is good enuff..... cos u can nv hit high speed on the road..... save money on fuel and cheaper to doll up ur car... why not get type R integra instead.... the body is damn nice...
CURRENT9 SG Nope I dun race on the road just that some extra horse power in your car is always better especially if you are driving on a trunk road in Malaysia. Of course talking about economical driving in Singapore, a Honda Jazz or Fit serve the purpose well.
Praetorian111 SG Ya the engine got potential , but I hear that stock when corning got a bit of a problem rite?? something like very unstable Did you make any improvement to ur car liao??
Praetorian111 SG Paiseh lar, me not very highly educated The way he phrase is quite misleading.... that's why I clarified with him.
tailslide SG suspension change liao. now alot better. better also means can go faster into corners . stock handling quite ok wat. juz more body roll compared to the DC2. could be due to the higher cg and weight. suffers from a bit of understeer if u brake too late and tendency to fishtail is there when u lift off too abruptly, but thats typical of FF cars lor.
tailslide SG coz got this thing called "the kerb" perching ominously between our lane and the opposite lane mah..... anyway, as heng always preached "the fastest way thru a corner is not with a tailslide"
