Strange... I thought this would arouse all the "conspiracy theory"-condemning people.

Why?

freedomclub SG

Not really mainstream information that people are comfortable accepting.

Poh Ah Pak SG

I accept them.

There is evidence to show the stories are true and accurate.

Funny that I don't see the Georgian-Russian war on the list, and the fact that many US news companies reported that Russian fired first which is plain erroneous. Even some Georgian officials admited it as much, despite official attempts to not only suppress this in parliament but in the Georgian press as well. Truly, this is really a hypocritical world.

Even in the US Presidential debate, both Obama and McCain maintained that it was the Russians who attacked first.

They have to protray Russia as the bogeyman.

Georgia was their client state also.

Probably because the Russian invasion of South Ossetia was exposed as a lie even by the MSM that its not considered as a censored story.

I would have prefer the topics to focus on SG Govt..........

freedomclub SG

Compared to all those issues, whatever corruption by the SG Govt is just peanuts.

I would have prefer the topics to focus on SG Govt..........

That would depends on whether you want to discuss the merits or demerits of government policies or do you just want to see posts bashing the government.

If you want to parttake in the former just make a post and include your opinion, if you want the latter i'm sure there's more than enough people on this forum willing to do it with you.

Arapahoe SG

why would it lead to a discussion of merits vs demerits of censorship policy? there are "enough" censorship topics to discussed within SG itself.

Stevenson101 SG

I said government policies, i did not say censorship policies. Even certain censorship policies such as handsoff on religion and race makes perfect sense.

That would depend on what you think is "enough". Personally i find our internal dissatisfaction a joke compared to what's going on in the world

Yeah, compared to the rest of the world, people living in Singapore have it too good. However, I think it's just a matter of time before the income gap widens due to the global recession. On political rights, we don't have a basis of comparison so it doesnt matter whether the government becomes more tyrannical.

What do you mean?

freedomclub SG

In other areas of the world, the way our government acts would be unacceptable because of the disregard for political rights. However, since we didnt even have a taste of political freedom in the first place, what basis of comparison can we demand of the government?

Strange logic.

Might as well say remain as british colony.

freedomclub SG

Yeah it seems. But then, why are most people remaining silent? Living too comfortably to rock the boat?
