Needs Advice For Suzuki Swift 1.3

Intend to buy a Suzuki Swift 1.3 at $25000. COE expires at 2011. Dealer throws in free 6 month road tax ending Dec 04 and replace the radio set to a CD one.

Anyone having experience with this car, any advice?

what is the year of manufacture? if parf is not available, 6 more years to drive, that means depreciation of about 4K++ per year.. not too bad. but if can, go for new cars more worth it. New Hyundai accent or kia rio also around same depreciation.

from wat u state... i assume ur suzuki swift is 1991's model? is auto or manual? if its manual remember to check the gearbox...

try starting the engine, and open up the bonnet, and see the engine, does it vibrate abruptly, i suggest u dun buy if the engine vibrate abruptly, it means tat the engine is unstable.. hear for any suspicious or unwanted sound....

oh ya.. and forgot to ask u to check on the car is it accident free? if not see which part had been replaced…

Thks for all your input. It's my first time buying car, so lots of thing I don't know... The car is a manual one, fitted with a 14' rim and nomo steering wheel. Though it has power steering, the steering feel heavy. The agent said this is due to the 14' rim and the nomo steering wheel and offered to change to the original ones.

Does the rim and steering wheel has a bearing on it???? Will changing the rim or the steering wheel improve the handling?? Thks.

ya wheel have wheel bearing... when u test drive go up to 3rd gear, hear for any funny sound comes from the wheel anot.. sometime wheel bearing might be spoil... as for steering heavy... hmmm i not sure though, cos i drove a few cars b4, and nvr had steering wheel heavy b4.. lol.. perhaps the wheels and rims are heavy?

If urs is a 91 model and an auto gearbox do check the transmission. Older automatic transmission arent that good. Ur steering should not feel heavy etc...

also dont be impressed by those momo or any other accesory. Do check the tyre treading. Engine should not be unusually noisy, but give and take assuming its more than 10 years old.

Yes wheels have bearing. Do bring the car out for a test drive. try to hit high speed and note any funny noise or vibrations.

See if absorbers are still good, tyres are fine. These are much more expensive to replace than a stereo!

Already test drive the car…..engine is ok, powerful. The rest are the minor problems such as the slow responsiveness of power mirrors, heavy steering….. The agent said his workshop will look into it and rectify the problems before delivery. So what do you all think??

hmmm think u better ask them to retify the problem and u see how..

if u say okie... buy then they do... chances are... then will do a small cover up and nv do anything at all....
thus do ... okiee... then buy..
not buy then ... let them do...

You can try delphi forums and look for suzuki club… the members there moght offer u some advices.
