hi guys, i need some help over here. my fren is driving honda accord 2.3L ‘99 model(he bought it in 1999…neber had probs at all).. ever since the last servicing…which was ard the beginning of 2004, his car started to encounter strange problems. ocassionally his car will jerk when engaging frm the 1st to the 2nd gear(auto transmission). n frm the reverse to Drive mode…vice versa. i was wondering any1 noes roughly wat is causing this problem. i reckoned that it has sumting to do with the spark plugs as he had changed it at the last servicing, but i’m not sure.. any1 here feel free to give ur views…thanks for the response.

i tot spark plug is for starting the vehicle only??? wat has it got to do with the transmission/change of gear???

Hi,

Hope this help...... check the automatic transmission oil, maybe turns old and choky already. Think he bever change that for a long time. In fact, many people don't change that until they feel that something is not right with the gear.

It happens to my civic before, and take me sometime to realise this problem. Change it last year and its okie until now since then.

Guess this should solve your problem.

bring to mechanic to check lor...
dun forget the fuel filter also. but most impt is the ATF la. get it drained and changed.

if i'm not wrong that model got vtec rite... ask ur friend to revv his car to more den 5k rpm once in a while...

Dear Friends
well as what the nice ppl here has suggested, that is the first thing to do check the ATF fuild , bcos the problem your friends car is known as Kick Back it usually occurs to Automatic transmission cars
when there is some problem occur in the gear box, if changing the AAtf fuild still does not work better check the gear box. Maybe the control valve inside the gear box is fault thus causing the eingine rotation and he gear box to have some sequencing problems.
so the cars tends to jerk when the car is shifting to another gear.

I hv this experience, not serious thou, during my servies, my mechanic itchy hands and go to retune my "idle rpm" to between 900 and 1000 rpm. becos, every car have diff so call diff part resistance. when car is idle , the engine still have to crank others part, ie, power steering pump, compress, water pump, etc etc. As this resistance will built up over the years or until you service them.

And if your mechanic remedy the fault, pls do a test drive around that area to confirm if not, is very sian to go back that the next day.

not likely to be spark plug problem. i reckon the tranny is at fault

should be the gear box problem….. Or maybe some parts of the car system is dirty causing such problems to occur….. just ask ur friend to bring it to a mechanic…. if not contact me and I will check the car for him….
