SINGAPORE: The tail cone of a Singapore Airlines (SIA) plane was
damaged after it collided with a stationary plane while being towed
at Changi Airport on Monday evening (May 30).
The incident, which was first reported by the Airline Hub Buzz
website, was confirmed by SIA on Wednesday.
There were no passengers on board both planes during the
accident, and no one on the ground was injured, a spokesperson for
the airline said.
The plane, a Boeing 777-300, was damaged after its right wing
“made contact” with a stationary SIA Boeing 777-200 while being
towed, SIA said.
“Damage to the aircraft is being assessed and investigations
will be carried out to determine how the incident occurred,” the
spokesperson said.
Last October, the nose gear of an SIA plane retracted while it
was undergoing a landing gear system check at Changi Airport,
causing the plane to tilt forward.
