Reminds me of a conversation I had with my local colleagues a
few years ago.
Them: Foreign workers are dangerous, and there should be
fewer of them. Lots of murders in Little India.
Me: Have you ever been threatened in Little India?
How many of the victims were Singaporean?
Them: Blank faces
Me: How did you get to work today?
Them: MRT
Me: Nice isn't it? Who built it?
I can't recall being invited for lunch again, but you get the
point. Are foreign workers really a danger to
Singaporeans? Does anybody have any stats, or are we drawing
conclusions from anecdotal evidence such as this story?
Lastly, should crime against Singaporeans be increasing, how
much is acceptable for the clear benefits to Singapore of cheap
foreign labour?
