Remember the cases where he traded blow-by-blow with govt scholar? Many saw him shooting more from his mouth than from his brain, acting more like a sheriff after wayward cowboys than a govt head. He also likes to talk big and is a show-off.

For years he had the chance to turn around the economy from the basic old-fashion merchandizing and retailing type to value-adding knowledge-based economy. He lacked the higher strategic mastering ability to create new technology start-ups other than pet high sounding projects which turn the heads until Lee Wai Ling called it bluff. Lee Wai Ling was right in this expose because as we can now see our biomedical and biotech are not producing the breakthrough apart from paying big monies for R&D,

His ability to speak like a no. i is second to MM Lee but the goodness of the pudding is in the eating. Result-oriented leaders of the calibre of Goh Keng Swee and Hon Sui Sen and Sim Kee Boon are few and far in between.

Without this type of go-getters all will be talk and no action. Have we reached world class or swiss standard of living but our many talk only type of leaders seem to think so. I think Goh or Hon will feel shy to talk if they cannot do anything to reach the final goal which really benefit all.

I think he should be PM or lead a GRC. (just kidding lah)

Make sure that our young people are hungry. If our young people are not hungry enough, bring in hungrier ones from overseas. Make them feel hungry, increase the hungriness index.

I thought he is a dork.

My impression of him:

If you work under him, you must really produce results (maybe outstanding results) If not, he will ask you pack up. It's stressful working with him.

He speaks with a funny accent. Not Hokkien, not Cantonese, not Teochew, not Malay, not Mandarin.

The krak, krak, krak sound, very irritating, machiam got unfit denture or it is due to his generation of kampong trained English or he is trying to impress the AngMos but can't really get it right.

I think Philip Yeo is the best govt officer to be civil service head due to what he criticised on the civil service.I don't know him personally.

I never heard him criticised the civil service but praised the govt and the civil service.

Have you confuse him with Ngiam T D? It was Ngiam who criticised the civil service all the time and Ngiam was previously the head of the civil service.

Oh ngiam. Is that the bloke that does the hdb? Is he involved in giving singaporeans so much subsidy in flats for them to enjoy ? Some questioned if heavily subsidised, why many still have to make 30 year loans ?
