The HDI provides a composite measure of three dimensions of
human development: living a long and healthy life (measured by
life expectancy), being educated (measured by adult literacy and
enrolment at the primary, secondary and tertiary level) and having
a decent standard of living (measured by purchasing power parity,
PPP, income). The index is not in any sense a comprehensive
measure of human development. It does not, for example, include
important indicators such as gender or income inequality and more
difficult to measure indicators like respect for human rights and
political freedoms. What it does provide is a
broadened prism for viewing human progress and the complex
relationship between income and well-being
Ok

The icing on the cake :The HPI-1 value of 5.2 for Singapore,
ranks 7th among 108 developing countries for which the
index has been calculated. - Could someone explain to me why
we are being compared to Developing Countries when there are so
much claims about how Singapore is a first world country
. The HPI-1 value of 6.6 for Occupied Palestinian
Territories, ranks 9th among 108 developing countries
for which the index has been calculated and it is in middle
development category. - urm how come we are ranked below an
occupied territory just by 2 ranks? The HPI-1 value of 4.7 for
Cuba, ranks 6th among 108 developing countries for which
the index has been calculated.. I am seriously so
impressed................
