Dunno about the political part, Bear, but the way some doctors go about thinking that folks are there to serve them instead of the other way round, I reckon...

All that you and Atobe have done is to spill your vitriol against the government at every turn, castigating the ruling party for everything. You have shown yourselves to be not just partisan, but blinkered by your personal bias as not to see the good the government has done. The people will judge and have indeed done so, time and again at the polls, when even a senior member of the WP has voted for the ruling party.

The Ruling Party has managed to gain their political position to govern Singapore by dishonest means at every election, and won each Election through guile and unprincipled means that any First World Country will be ashamed of.

This little Red Dot of 4.5 Million persons has less then two-thirds being Citizens, and less then half are eligible voters, yet there are 84 members of Parliament to be elected, or which on Nomination Day - almost half are already considered walk-over win for the incumbent Ruling Political Party.

The purposeful use of the enlarge parliament, grouped in enlarged GRCs under the pretext of ensuring representation of the minority ethnic groups in Parliament, coupled with a high election deposit fees - are all designed to prevent any candidates from an already impoverished Alternative Political Parties from creating any upset to the incumbent political party.

With legislations in place that prevent any large anonymous donations from Singaporeans - as many would have been targeted for petty political reprisal by the Ruling Party - and this legislation was designed to hit the treasury of the Alternative Political Parties.

The control of the broadcast and print media - including attempts to even control the internet during the election - have resulted in an unbalanced public exposure in favor of the incumbent Ruling Political Party. This situation is made worst by the bias and lop sided exposure of negative news concerning the Alternative Political Parties, and with such news given extra prominence over an extended period.

Still, it was remarkable that for a group of 'political newbies' seen as light weight politiicans from the WP, its GRC for Ang Mo Kio was able to make a big dent to the PAP GRC for the same constituency led by PM LHL.

If the entire election was held with a more level field, Singapore would have seen a more open and fairer election.

Bias, prejudice, vitriol from my postings ?

You see what you wish to see - which surprisingly you seem to be blinkered to the same acts from the PAP Elites towards members of the Alternative Political Parties 24/7 throughout the year - before, during and post-Election.

Compare the Political Environment with that in the UK - it is more than a world apart, yet MM LKY can dare claim to have brought Singapore into the First World.

Wrong! What the people want is continued prosperity for the nation in the midst of rising competition from China and regional nations. The ruling party has delivered that. Nobody agrees with all of the government's policy and even I have gone on record criticising the government's support for Thaksin, for example. I thought Thaksin was a spent force and we should have hanged him in favour of the military junta who had the support of the Thai king. I was wrong and Thaksin's faction is now back in power.

What you and Atobe have failed to do is to remove your tainted glasses and see the good the givernment has done, as well as its failures. People look at the overall performance of the ruling party and weigh it against the confidence or rather, the lack of it even among the leadership of the WP.

What do you know about the needs of Singaporeans when you live in a cloistered world that is half-a-globe away in UK ?

Can Singapore continue to compete with the likes of China and other regional nations, when others are already loosening up their political controls, and having their own Governmental Monoliths being dismantled from commerce and industry - while this Singapore Dinosaur will continue under the guise of privatisation ?

Can we believe your belated critique of the Singapore Government over the Thaksin affair, and your changed in opinion about the revival of Thaksin's Group ?

Your brilliance in understanding Singapore Politics is already amazing, and should we be dazzled by your effort in attempting to dabble with the Thais ?

If it is worth anything, your assessment of Thaksin and his group is lacking in due diligence in proper research, which seem characteristic of your 'Elitist Types' that is over-confident with the supposed confidential elitist sources whom you have always crowed about rubbing your small shoulders with.

Remarkably, you dare to tell Robertteh and Atobe to remove our tainted glasses, when your own mind is already colored without any help from any glasses in believing that the Government has delivered.

In 2007, did you not dispute the fact that there are no hard-up Singaporeans around - that there are NO destitute and homeless in Singapore ?

Since the last recession in 1997, the economy has been flip-flopping through the 9/11 incident, SARS and Bird-Flu - with unemployment hitting an all time high of 4.6% in 2001, and stubbornly remaining at 2.6% since 2006.

Inflation has reached an all time high of 6.7% for the month of March - and the middle-income group has shrunk in size, with more down-grading to near the Standard of Living of the lower-income group.

Since 2004-2005, those unfortunate Singaporeans who have seen their real income reduced from 20% to 40% have yet to recover, as many were already in their 40s and 50s with the passage of time adding to their age burden in finding employment - contributing to the unemployment index.

Is Robertteh and Atobe looking at the Singapore events with tainted glasses, or are you looking from UK with binoculars selectively focussed and unable to see the bigger picture that is available to us locally ?

If the Singapore Government has delivered, the incumbent Ruling Political Party should exercise principles in ensuring fair elections as conducted in the First World countries.

Yet we see the incumbent Ruling Poitical Party fearing their further decline in votes, and will resort to Third World Politics to ensure a win for themselves.

The insecurity of the Ruling Political Party has led to the persecution with such venom on political challenges from the former Solicitor-General Francis Seow, and the other loyal Singaporean Citizen Tang Liang Hong, which led them to exile themselves from Singapore or resulting in their permanent imprisonment after a political show trial.

The political venom is nothing compared to the seeming vitriol that you see in the posts from Robertteh and Atobe.

If you cannot stand up to such political debate, you are still a virgin taking a walk in a Red-Dot district where you do not belong.

Stay on in the UK, where you are safer.
