Hi Gopalan,
I live in the East Malaysian state of Sabah,a physician by
profession. I stumbled upon your blogsite and was pleasantly
shocked to read the article on Lee Hsien Loong's search for a
successor.
Pleasantly becasue I haven't come accross a more correct
assesment of the situation in Singapore.
Are you by any chance related to the late Devan Nair ?
My wife is currently doing a fellowship at one of the hospitals
in Spore.
She tells me that society in Singapore lacks that humane touch
that we find in Malaysia. It is regimented and money
becomes the sole focus of life for Singaporeans.
Don't rule out the possibilty of political change in Singapore. It
is inevitable though it will be diffcult to predict when.
Just look at the shocker the Malaysian elections served up last
month. I am sure the PAP will be worried that the winds of change
will blow down south.
Anyhow your comments were refreshing, spot on, and gives a fairly
accurate assesment of the situation in Singapore. I am sure you
don't regret leaving Singapore.
Warm regards,
Peter.
I am not related to the late President Devan Nair. Nair is a
common surname in Kerala India where my parents were
from.
Thanks
Gopalan Nair
