Hope to make this gift....please help!

Its for a special girl, mainly for thanking her for her support over a tough period of my life.

Don't want to post in chit-chat cos' no one is serious. Dunno where else to post. Aunt agony got some funny people too.

The idea is derived from a gift idea I read about- Mother's Survival Kit. This MSK is given to new mothers, containing items like band-aids, buttons, candle.
The significance of the items inside will be explained by a small note, for example: A band-aid for the times you get hurt(simplified example), a button to remind you of the times you should button up your mouth and not nag, candle to light your way.

Most probably this isn't a 100% original idea, but I think it's not common. I am not creative in thinking of gifts and won't spend too much time on an original idea, but it will come from my heart.

I don't know what name I will give to my gift yet. I want my gift to be 33% practical use, 33% significance and 33% aesthetic(1% me Embarassed ).

Mainly I will want to give a pouch/small bag like thing that can be sealed up like a Survival kit, with compartments inside to contain other things.

Hope you guys/girls can help with suggestions and answers to my question! Really much thanks.

First question, any pouch/bag that fits my description?

Oh yah, she is currently studying uni and like arts and music. Like blue(i think) and simple stuff like looking at stars, rainbows. Play sports like badminton, tennis, basketball, soccer.

yah you are right. So I want something practical also. A container that is big enough to contain staff that is useful(can replenish maybe), yet not big enough to be encumbersome and also can fit into a hand carried bag.

Having a dilemma over the size/scale of the container

good idea about the breaking glass thing though...but frame it up confirm become white elephant leh...

from your 1st post the things u wana put inside is symbolic. u dont actually want people to use them rite?

i thought a display frame will be more practical as when displayed, the person can look at it whenever she is down and it will bring a smile to her face.

I want a gift 33% practical(not 100% like a tshirt, pair of shoes etc.), 33%aesthetic(not like jewellery mah), 33% symbolism(not like 99 stalks of roses).

haha you are right still. Somehow a part of me says, "simple, practical, pretty, meaningful" but another part says "impossible to put all of them together".

think I will give brollie to my colleague lah...she lend me brollie since the rainy season started, cos first day at work mine kena stolen already. Her brollie still with me after 1 week plus, cos she tell me she dont need it. A bit paiseh...haha

maybe for a start, you want to tell us the list of significances you wish to convey to her. then we suggest gifts which are suitable that can be linked to it.

Many girls prefer to keep meaningful gifts received, even if they are meant to be utilised. I guess that she would most likely retain this kit which you are preparing for her, since it's not even going to be 100% practical anyway Smile

That being the case, you might wish to brush aside the aspect of practicality first. It'll at least get things started... Wink

so I'll write part of them here

1) want to encourage her in studies and tell her to whine less about studies Embarassed not like me, in jc complain jc and say secondary school good, in army complain army and say jc good, now working say army life better.

don't want to write a motivational essay :/ so what's good?

2) she do a lot of social work especially with children. want to tell her that she has a gift few people have so continue to bring joy to needy children, etc.
