change and progress are absolutes, not vectors.
Just because we happen to be on the cusp of progress does not mean
that the change has led us down the fabled "correct path".
Contrary to your observation, it is you who are stagnating. You who
are so self righteous that the current state is the "right" one. If
we do not constantly question the alternatives, how are we to
change, to evolve, to progress?
It is unfortunate in a sense, because your very character is the
one you so often condemn. If the world were a different place, and
the popular convention was that of female subjugation, you would
still be here leading the cry against independent females in
whatever country it is that has the misfortune of having different
cultural views from yourself.
You are not the independent, free willed woman you pray fervently
to be. Nay, you are exactly the same as the saudi women. Only the
yoke you carry is not the shariah, but popular convention. You can
talk about equal rights all you want, but you know as well as I do
that you are the one who fears change. The one who cannot accept a
different way of life.
You do not lack imagination. You fear it.
