Are our ministers our only government talents?

History is the judge. Whether we have the talents among the people to form a better and more capable government to run Singapore can be judged by historical evidences.

Globalization is that new phenomenon. China and India at one time considered not having capability by our so-claimed leaders are now overtaking our ministers in making waves and progress all over the globe proving our leaders' assumptions about their own closed-door thinking absurd and wrong.

Budget airlines have proven the point that cheap is not necessarily attracting lower quality service or ability. There are other considerations not obvious to the people. Values need not be fixated by price. China and India too can produce quality goods and products at a fractions of price charged by others. So budget airlines are winning over many air travelers nowadays. That is the globalization phenomenon not yet fully understood. The key factor in deciding which airline to use for most people is value for the price paid not quality per se.

PSA which originally held the view that Singapore offers values and quality and price is not everything has had to swallow its pride by finally agreeing to reduce its port charges and rentals to major shipping operators in order to ward off the big-scale migration of its many shipping operators.

Again the government also claimed that only its own networks of connections or scholars are the talents and deserved to charge the highest price due to their quality. Is this assumption true?

This will be another major policy hype for certainly despite many years of proclaimed talents we have seen any one of them really capable of restructuring the economy except to play with property or IR.

Outside their own circle there are many capable people who could easily be found to govern the country at a fraction of million dollars now self-taken by our ministers.

Why are such potential leaders not found? It is because we are being run by self-centred people who do not see talents or practical talents except their own kind of profile. If equal opportunity is even there will be many people capable of implementing right policies and take us higher.

Again it will be the market who will finally prove PSA, wrong. It will be ordinary people who could run the Budget Airlines who will provide competitiveness not necessarily brand names all the time.

Let there be competitions so that the jobs of governing the countries are not always confined to the ruling party's few ministers. All self-glory and protectionism is just another hype.

I believe there are definitely Singaporean talent out there who are better than our ministers, but unwilling to serve in the government. What for?

Current situation in Singapore is:
Serve or support the PAP: Branded as a PAP lackey
Serve or support the Opposition: The PAP comes down on you

The best is to heck care. Talk about the political apathy in Singapore, not only does the PAP play a role in it, the Opposition supporters do have a role too.
