Yup, its true.
Attempted suicide is an offence under the Penal Code (Cap
224)
Attempt to commit suicide.
309. Whoever attempts to commit suicide, and does any act towards
the commission of such offence, shall be punished with imprisonment
for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine, or with
both.
Of course, if one dies in the process of "attempted suicide", then
the offence (attempt) had already been committed.
I heard that its just a "token punishment" though since its really
quite impossible to impose a punishment on an already deceased
person.
