This is a litmus test to see is there ANY soul out there on this planet
who really knows of the reported 172,400 jobs created,

how many are taken up by Foreigners, Laborers, Factory workers, PR (meaning non singaporeans) or citizen ?

At 1st glance, the news is GLORIOUS.

At closer look,

I realised I am reading at a figure that does not tell me the details. Not even a simple percentage breakdown of x% of jobs were taken up by PRs, FTs and Foreign Laborers and Y% taken up by singaporeans.

Correct me if you are able.

How are so-called educated singaporeans reading and interpreting the news?

In june, a lot of uni and poly students graduate and are unemployed. Usually by september, most of them would have found a job though. (but lousy job) They just do one job, then switch when a better job comes along.

If the relevant statistics are not publicly available, it could mean that the government is not ready to release them. Of course, it is our right to question why they aren't.

Some MPs will definitely request MOM to provide these figures when Parliament convenes again.

Ngiam Tong Dow is right, government statistics lie. It is far better to go to ask the people how is their lives now as compared with the earlier years of the 1970s. All the statistics and numbers are just window dressing and no more.

So do not act supercilious or expect people to believe in MOM's number for a long long time especially after so many numbers from NKF were all wrong.

Figures from MOM?

They will tell you that the number of Singaporean residents gaining jobs but not differentiate between a FT, PR and a Citizen. All of these three are considered residents .

If you ask them to break down the numbers, I don't think they would .

I tried asking a government ministry statistics on Singaporean citizens for a project I was doing several years back - I got refused under the premise that it was confidential. The topic was health related statistics , not even about national defence.

I would like to assume that you are saying that you agree with me that some important facts are poorly missing and that this piece of info is of interest to singaporeans, i.e citizens, but due to some unexplanable reasons, no democratic singaporean have made strong enough effort to request for the information (RFI). And the most ashtonishing thing to me about democracy de singapura is that the so-called Opposition continuously failed to achieve digging out this piece of info for the people who supported them.

My feet were all mud and I lost my voice and I had clapped until my hands cannot clapped anymore during the rallies.
