ObviousMan SG What is happening and what will be happening talk in 1 company. By men on the street; not men in ivory towers. Not here to argue good or bad, just to highlight that this is occurring in reality. (I'm disillusioned with SG and that includes SG Forums) Praemonitus praemunitus ---- Forewarned is Forearmed. eagle SG Sad to say, although the economy is doing well in the employment area, it is these companies that are causing problems for Sgreans. The general picture seems nice, but the it is the factors that happen in these everyday events that are the worrying factors. There's no use complaining about FTs; all strong economies will inevitably see these problems (talking with regards to Germany). It is what the government could do for these people before they find another job. Some of them might not even have earned enough for their living
reddressman SG You are again giving a sweeping statement. Europe protects its own kind despite the fact that many from Asia are able to take over their jobs at lower costs.
the Bear SG uhhh... so.. you want the gabrament to go into the nitty gritty of hiring and firing? if so, please go fight it out with the other guy who insists that the gabrament has too many laws already... besides, it's a private company right? if i go to another country, start up a company or buy out one, and put a lot of Singaporeans to work there, i'd be hailed as a hero by you fellas?? get a grip..
eagle SG I'm talking about the fact that foreigners will always be present in a strong economy, and at the start, many citizens will complain about them. Please point out how it is a sweeping statement by showing me a strong economy without any foreign workers. The world's 3 largest economies, USA, Japan and Germany all employ lots of foreign workers. In the case of Germany, when the foreigners (mainly Italians) first came over, the same complains were given by the Germans as those given by Singaporeans here. The Italians were willing do to the same job at a lower wage.
ObviousMan SG Not sure whats your point, but I will try to understand where you are coming from (by dissecting your post). (a)This is your projection of your opinion. Nowhere did I mention that. For the matter, I do not think that the gahmen will hold back the water while opening the flood gates. http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2BNews/Singapore/STIStory_181330.html (b) This is also another projection, probably from your differing views with another person in this forum. I have no idea who that person is, and it is not my business. (c) This is partly relevant. Sure it is a company issue, we are all outsiders here and it will be the case if you did buy out another company. However, perhaps what is more relevant is whether the same trick can be pulled in another comparable country as easy as locally (which is another topic by itself). Get a grip .on the purpose of my post. Like I stated upfront, I post merely to inform on what is coming. I care not if you have something against me or my topic, but trying to twist what i'm posting into what it is not is really a bit hard to swallow. As explained, I don't have much time nor inclination to post here; i much prefer to spend my time productively.
