NS is okay in my opinion.
But two years is too long a period.
I think the best is one and a half years.
According to wiki, Singapore's number of active troops is about
60,500.
Is this level of active troops necessary?
Countries with bigger populations have less troops than us.
This is a typical kiasu attitude.
If the period of NS is reduced to one and a half years, the level
of active troops will drop.
The question here is how many active troops does Singapore need in
peace time?
Active troops in Asean:
Vietnam - 484,000
Myanmar - 428,250
Indonesia - 400,000
Thailand - 306,600
Cambodia - 124,300
Philippines - 113,500
Malaysia - 110,000
Singapore - 60,500
Laos - 29,000
Brunei - 7,000
