Hi all,

Just bought the new Toyota Altis today. Went down to BM and paid the initial deposit liao. Heard some great reviews abt it though its thai-made. However i heard from other forums that thai-assembled parts might produce some costly problems down the road. comments??

took up the Gold scheme of $73,988. Initial deposit of $2,080 (to be topped up to $10,400 upon confirmation of booking). monthly instalments $690 @ 2.45% per annum. Very Happy

Borneo motors got offer 2 type of scheme one. one is classic, one is gold. think different payment scheme la. and ya i taking 10 yrs.

COE think not yet guranteed.
have to wait till next wed after COE closes. those guys told me that if COE drops - take lower value. if higher - take current value at the point of sale. if u buy after wed, then have to take COE price thereafter. so now is pray it will drop! but highly unlikely....

I read from another forum, that the altis is actually our very own corolla, both are the same cars, just that the Corolla in Singapore is visually the same as the one sold in Japan whereas the Corolla Altis is a version which was customised for CKD markets.

Technically, they are identical. If the Altis version is going to Singapore, then it could be due to the AFTA thing where Toyota feels it would be more cost-effective to ship from Thailand than Japan. They may save some money in duties although I
am not sure how the Singapore tax structure works.

did u have to take up the HSBC financing where they give you 2K discount ?
also, from BM website, the vios (A) 1.5 E is 67K on gold scheme. That means with 7K more, you get a 1.6 Altis....

hmm... tempting....

If you put downpayment at $ 10400 next time if said you want to sell away (touch wood) then need to pay back money or not???

By the way, the classic payment... wat different huh?

One more thing, is the aircon electronic control or those analog turning knob???? all 4 wheels are disc brakes? Mr. Green

I was thinking of buying the corolla too but got to save for higher downpayment so that the monthly not that siong..... i find that so far, corolla provide more space than other car in the same category, fuel economy and vvti got power too.

Does the car come with freebies???

Make in Thailand, think still ok right.....

wah. i would realli recommend u to do some research urself b4 committing into a new car. its not a cheap er.. i wont even call it an investment to be exact, esp in singapore.

unless u r loaded tt is, the case of wich u wont even need to ask abt the monthly expenditure on it. Wink

tell u guys the truth i oso green to buying a new car....went down a couple of times to the showroom with my dad before finally can commit...
a lot of sleepless nites...ahahahha....

according to the nice lady at BM, she told me that booking can be cancelled before 8 dec (cos the new shipment will be confirmed on that date) and ur initial deposit will be refunded to u. once after that date, think cannot liao...the car will be on its way le..

think the minimum amt will be $2,040 - $10400.

selling away not too sure.

the classic payment i think is lower instalment but higher downpayment...and maybe minus the freebies...

aircon is push button technology. 4 x disc brake system. Smile

freebies got a few. i only like the chrome handles and reverse sensors. Mr. Green

will be goin to ubi car mart this weekend to see what's on offer in the marktet before deciding to get a new car or second hand.
Besides Ubi and kaki bukit, any other second hand marts worth checking out ?

anyone know if car prices can still go lower especially with AFTA coming in in 2005 and the increase in new COEs set to hit the market ??

funny u asked, coz i was there yesterday. Nothing much, as there are a few parallel importers. Saw one Imprezza TS 1.6(A) and many civic 92-93 models re-done very nicely.
one guy tried to sell his EG6 for 60K, fully modified with 270hp !!!
