But caution about complacency. I watch my stocks balloon by 70% within one month, but I am cautious because these days the markets are pretty sensitive. One bad news in one major region and it can cause turbulence through the entire global market

am not sure about 2008 though. I still feel that the global market is now in a bit of a bubble stage.

I am contemplating consolidation of cash before year end.

Anyway I was partly lucky, found a few super stocks that were underperforming and now they are ballooning by many % points in terms of price increase on average every week.

generally, people sort of think that the next two to five years are the only opportunity to "make it" because there after, we get prolonged recession. I wonder how these guys get this idea from. any comment or research to talk about this?

Actually I beg to differ. Recession is a time when the next wave of potential millionaires will be borned. Recession is the best time when you can buy expensive items on a cheap.

The way to do that is to be ready to pounce on opportunities when the time arrives. So the time now is to consolidate until the next recession.

For those who haven't make it and expect to make it in the next 2 to 5 years, my opinion is its too late to jump on the bandwagon right now. Rather than jumping on a train that is running faster and faster until it may be going too fast and may derail anytime, I rather wait till it derails, and when it starts up again (slower speed), to jump onto it.

you have a "range trading" investment philosophy and think that at current high prices, it is more prudent to wait for a correction before contemplating new purchases.

I have a 25 gain/8 loss rule, but I may not adhere to it if I see enough evidence an investment will grow more than that

I still do buy in selected investments in this high priced market, though its only for short term investment purposes

so what are your views on the horizon for the next few years?

the hang seng - nikkei 225 spread is extremely big by looking at the historical data. So this spread should narrow back in. Given a bullish outlook for equities, i would view a long nikkei 225 as a relatively good short term strategy.

for next few years, it depends on how the equity markets play out.

I think buy and hold strategy works best when one starts buying during recession times (sounds like talking c.ock) , ha ha!!

I suppose you believe in Evolution...that life begins from an accidental mix of atoms and molecules...that somehow evolved into single cell life form and progressed to become complex organisms and finally fish, mammals, and us...

Now...have scientists actually found solid proof of this Theory of Evolution? Even Darwin admitted it was just a hyphothesis...and till today, it has yet to be proven to be absolutely true...there are simply too many holes in the theory. But many just accepted it to be true because it is in the science textbooks.

So don't you sit up there with your pseudo-intelletual snobbishness and label Christians "piteous" when you yourself does not really understand the science that you worship.

You seem to be confused about something.

"theory" means "the explanation of"

"The Theory of Evolution" means "The Explanation of Evolution"

Just like "The Theory of Relativity" means "The Explanation of Relativity"

It does not say anything about the truth or falsehood about Evolution or Relativity.

The truth or falsehood is confirmed by looking at the "evidence" the "observations" the "experiments" and the "Facts"

So when you observe a "fact" (interplanetary/interstellar movements) as predicted by the Theory of Relativity, you then say that the Theory of Relativity is confirmed by that fact (and many other facts).

In the case of the Theory of Evolution, it is similarly confirmed by many "facts" - observations as predicted by the theory.

You need not take a position of EVOLUTION vs Christianity. European Christians, for example, have no problems accepting The Theory of Evolution.

It is better for you to change the interpretation of whatever it is you think the Bible says. The Bible is open to interpretation and you must align your interpretations with the latest scientific findings.

Edited to add... you also need not get agitated when people try to debunk Christianity by saying that the creation story is in conflict with the Theory of Evolution. It is in conflict depending on the interpretation of the Bible only.
