Some people can see the trees very well but they have no idea what the forest looks like and because they know very well, one tree, they think they know the forest. When they try to talk about the forest, they become very stupid because all they can talk about is the tree.

They use what they from knowing one tree to argue with people about the forest that they have no idea of.

They make a fool of themselves arguing with people about the forest, because they think that just because they know the tree, they know the forest.

Probably they spend too much energy on science but don't know how to debate.They have attitude problem with regards to debating.

You are giving them too much credit. They are just greatly confused people. They cannot connect the dots to see the full picture.

They are like the blind men touching the elephant.

They cannot see the whole elephant, they think that the elephant is the part that they touch.

They touch the elephant's tail, they insist that the elephant is like a snake.

When you try to tell them that the elephant is not like a snake, they get angry and start their name-calling.

They are so sure that the elephant is like a snake because it is their personal experience of an elephant.

Stupid people are like that.
