Should part-time workers also get annual company bonus?

I read today newspaper,it says that the number of Singaporeans who work part-time or contract jobs has increase.But as far as i know,part-time job worker dont enjoy many benefits that a full-timers have.

For example,there is no annual bonus for them.So i am wondering,can our government take lead to let those who work part-time job also can enjoy annual company bonus.

Becoz i know that those part time workers their pays was already very low,and yet,they do make alot of contributions to many companies.So by right,they should also enjoy anuual bonus as well.What do u guys think?

I don't understand the use of the word "bit.ch" by you. The company can just give them a sum of money that they think is reasonable as the bonus to the part timers.

do you know full timers very ke lian also?
always have to cover for the part timers if they suddenly no show. then fulltimers work OT sometimes company also don't want to pay because they say it's an insignificant amount or what. then must sign 1 year or 2 years or don't know how many years contract. if not happy, also must stay until contract up, if not must pay company for the 'loss'. and so many responsibilities.

if part timers can get the annual company bonus also, might as well everyone be part timer.

While I agree that part-timers should get something. The thing, how do we calculate/justify how much each part-timer gets?

For example, a company can have a part timer who works 10 hours a week, another who works 20 hours a week, another works 15 hours on alternate weeks and then another one who damn "pia" work 50 hours a week. How do we pay them then? All same amount? Pro-rating will be a real chore. So as long as there is no law, many companies would not give bonuses for part-timers. Maybe "Ang bao" during CNY, but thats about it I think.

They should get share option too, maybe in the near future the company should have part-time managing director and be given a company's car and golf club membership because they contribute. Laughing

Just have a guide like part timers will have to work a maximum of such and such hours to be entitle bonus. The Bonus should be just one amount.

If you do that, you then risk disgruntlement amongst the part time staff. People management is always tricky. Say the minimum for part-timers to qualify is 1000 Hours a year. 1 of 2 things can happen. The staff will stop working when he hits 1k hours, or work for 2 companies with 1k hr requirement to get bonus.

Or staff a works 1100 hours that year, another staff works 2200 hours that year. You pay the same amount, you risk having dissatisfaction within the ranks.

Many other scenarios also. Like logistics parttimers who are paid per delivery made etc.. which essentially in same cases, are private sub-contractors of the logistics firm. that again is another can of worms.

Not saying it can't be done tho. Just that is going to take considerable effort on the part of the paying employer. Especially companies with many different types of part-timers.
