London was 135m, world's tallest... year 2000...

China's 160m-high Star of Nanchang opened last year in southern Jiangxi province.... year 2006

Singapore Flyer is 165m... not yet operating...

Beijing Great Wheel 208m .... not yet operating...

So... I ask you... is it

"China inconsiderate... " or "Singapore inconsiderate... " ???

Rolling Eyes

FBI SG

seriously man, do u think china making a bigger ferry wheel will win us in tourist attraction?

i doubt so man.

AndrewPKYap SG

hahaha 1.6 billion potential internal tourists ...

they will not win us... cannot compare at all... like asking if the batam weight world champ can beat the heavy weight world champ.... hahaha I forget I hate PRC... Laughing

doppleganger SG

Point taken and agreed. Thanks.

China. Singapore already almost finishing. China started planning only. Its like Just like Rock Paper Scisor... I revealed mine, but you reveal yours 5 seconds later...

So China is still inconsiderate.

AndrewPKYap SG

but you see hor... theirs was 160m and Singapore builds one 165m... 5 meters more only you know? It is like petronas tower... put a flag pole on top and then measure to the top of the flag pole.... irritating right?

so now Beijing fed-up and plans to build one 208m... not Singapore 165m, they build one 165.5m Laughing

doppleganger SG

Point being?

HyperFocal SG

Don't worry... China may be fast in everything they do...
but I bet you, they lack standards, & quality... besides, the Ferry Wheel they built may one day come crashing down incurring International Attention...

Laughing

Let's extend ours and make ours longer than their by 1mm. Mr. Green

udontknowme SG

can u not read? Rolling Eyes

andrew already said so in an earlier post that china had one that's 160m tall (star of nanchang) opened in 2006.

it's now 2007. singapore obviously started building theirs after China started with their star of nanchang.

his point (or at least that's how i read it) is that, singapore copied china's star of nanchang. and now, china is pissed and so they are building something that singapore most probably wont be able to build. at least that's what i read from what andrew has posted

<Precious> SG

Welcome to the reality of global competition......... Razz

China doesn't owe us anything - TS' saying that China's plan is "inconsiderate" is unwarranted. What about some Thai plan to construct the Kra canal? Rolling Eyes

That's why we have all been advised to continually upgrade ourselves and not rest on our laurels or other countries will overtake us. Watch out for Vietnam and India! Laughing

mancha SG

Haiyaaa!
What China do, with China money, in China land, for China people, is China's business.

Singapore can only smile, send congratulations to China, and plan to build a bigger one. Perhaps a 210m wheel.

kenn3th SG

Neutral dont think we will.
we must first see how well singapore flyer goes.
